“[Syantra’s team is] developing a technology that has the potential to not just make a difference in the tech world but also to save millions of lives—more than enough reason to name Syantra ‘One to Watch’.”
CALGARY, Alberta., Nov 16, 2021 — Syantra Inc., a precision healthcare company that’s changing the way cancer is detected, starting with breast cancer, announced today that it has been recognized as this year’s ‘One to Watch’ among Alberta’s technology sector.
The ‘A100 One to Watch Award’, part of the Start Alberta Tech Awards, recognizes the early-stage Alberta tech company deemed ‘most likely to succeed’ by the A100 membership.
“This ‘A100 One to Watch Award’ is such an honour for Syantra. We’re particularly proud that our first-ever award has come from the A100,” says Bob Shepherd, Syantra President and Chief Executive Officer. “Over our years in the Alberta tech community, we’ve really valued the support we’ve received from A100 members and their organizations as we developed our technology and began growing the business of Syantra.”
The A100, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting Alberta tech entrepreneurs, is one of the founding partners of Start Alberta. Both organizations exist to foster a thriving technology ecosystem in this province.
“We're seeing some incredibly innovative companies in the life science tech space making significant traction in Alberta, and Syantra is definitely on that list,” says Aaryn Flynn, Chair, the A100. “[Syantra’s team is] developing a technology that has the potential to not just make a difference in the tech world but also to save millions of lives—more than enough reason to name Syantra ‘One to Watch’.”
Start Alberta launched the Tech Awards in 2018 to celebrate contributions to Alberta innovation and recognize those making a significant impact on the province’s tech sector. This year’s awards feature 13 categories ranging from ‘Tech Deal of the Year’ to ‘Ecosystem Supporter of the Year’ to ‘Fastest Growth’.
